Went from tent to offroad pop-up to 24' TT, to hopefully a TC.
Sounds like us... We were avid tent campers back in the 60s and 70s when living in AZ. We had the OFF-ROAD JEEPS and it was so much fun going out with others and tent camping all over the high country of AZ... We finally moved to the East Coast following the work thing and continued alot of tent camping up and down the Blue ridge parkway and all over Virginia. VA has alot of real nice tent camping places with all of its Lakes scattered everywhere..
This led in to my OFF-ROAD POPUP Camper which i still still have today... We beefed up the batteries and added all the power asavings things we could and can stay out for a long time now...
We actually tried the trailer routine for awhile but found out it just wasn't out style of camping... I could just never fit in with the RV TRAVELING crowd. Also everything is way to expensive to operate and deal with.
I have always wanted to do the TC thing but talk about expenses involved with that. First you need the high quality 4X4 Truck 3/4-1 ton capacity with duallys to do the larger TCs with slides... My other hobby which is Ham radio brings on all of the things you want to always have with you which is really going to be a problem with the TC. For me I would also have to pull a util trailer behind the TC. I don't imagine those will come cheap either. If I am going to tow anything behind the TC it would be my JEEP haha...
Even doing all of this would still be much less expensive than trying to deal with the hugh pull trailers and motorhomes...
We are just now thinking again about maybe hitting the road for more out West OFF-ROAD RV Camping for long term... Storage of all of my required items would be a hugh priority. I don't know know how good we have it storage wise until I start cleaning out my Truck bed, rear seating area, and my OFF-ROAD POPUP camper with 5x8 front deck. We can carry some serious supplies with us on our trips...
My mentor would be MELLO MIKE from AZ... Never met up with him but do follow him in his posts and blogs...
