MPPT is even more important on a low-wattage system to convert higher PV voltages into regulated 12v amperage to get the most out of your limited space on a TC for panels.
A PWM is nothing more than a fancy high speed on-off switch. If your panels are 20v, you send 20v to your batteries at a lower amperage than you would have if it had been down-verted to 14v. You waste the additional voltage rather than converting it to amperage.
20 volts to the batteries?
