Yes...if you have a 6.doh, you need to, in addition to basically re-engineering half the engine, watch all readings carefully even after doing so, because it STILL might blow up! God and goddess, this would be funny if it weren't so sad!
I do agree that gauges are a MUST, cheapest way there is IMHO the Scangauge II. If the EOT and ECT delta (difference) consistently go above 15 degrees at 65 mph on level terrain, chances are good your oil cooler is not long for this world. It goes, the EGR cooler is next to go.
The Ford gauges are nothing more than glorified idiot lights. But "re-engineering half the engine"? Not even close, sir.
