I do agree that gauges are a MUST, cheapest way there is IMHO the Scangauge II. If the EOT and ECT delta (difference) consistently go above 15 degrees at 65 mph on level terrain, chances are good your oil cooler is not long for this world. It goes, the EGR cooler is next to go.
So yes, you have to add a bunch of monitoring stuff so you can catch failures quickly...and yet, you consider this acceptable. Unbelievable.
The Ford gauges are nothing more than glorified idiot lights. But "re-engineering half the engine"? Not even close, sir.
Yeah, you only need head studs, new gaskets, and a redesigned EGR system. And you, again, consider it acceptable that needing to do this just to ensure basic reliability is acceptable. Absolutely incredible. Were you also highly satisfied with your Yugo?
