my first disappointment

2015 ram 3500
took back to dealer because I was looking for the daylight running lights. was told they don't have them.
first time dodge buyer, all my GM trucks, when turned on in gear has running lights on. Not Ram. I was hoping to connect my backup camera to the 5er running lights, guess not.
does anyone drive with the headlights ON, I think it is safer to have a running light
  • I'm sure you get them set up in some way, if that's what you want, either by dealer, or after market. What I really wanted to say though is; if that's the only disappointment you ever have with your truck (And I hope it is), then your doin pretty good my friend! Good luck.
  • I was told that the daylight running lights only use 50% power of regular lights, this helps them last longer.
I have an appointment on Wednesday. will post after. also the dealer said I needed to change oil every 3 months or 6000 miles for warranty protection
I would like to get that in writing.
  • Was daytime running lights listed on your invoice when you bought the truck? Its rather foolish to assume that what is standard on one vehicle would automatically be included on another.

I have a simple fix. Turn your lights to AUTO and place a small piece of electrical tape over the light sensor. Lights automatically turn on once the truck has started. Then through your EVIC you can adjust length of delay after your truck shuts off.

Another option is to simply turn the lights on every time you get in the truck.

Either way, you get lights turned on while driving and you power the running light circuit, therefore providing power for your reverse camera on your trailer.

I turn on headlight switch just like I have done since I started driving back in the 1960S....Motorcycles, trucks, cars, tractors etc.

    RAM DRL Infomation

    X2,

I wish I had a dollar for every person that flashed their lights at me during the early years, I would be a millionaire!
  • I am almost certain that any new vehicle can be programmed to have the lights run in the day. Just have to hook it up to the computer at the dealership.

Unless things have changed, yes they do have DRLs as an option. Ask the service writer to have it turned on. A tech will need to connect their Star Scan tool and flip a program switch. I have thay and high idle turned on on my 2007. High idle allows you to activate cruise to booste warm up idle speed on cold mornings.

I don't know about the DRL option but my 2015 2500 Ram 6.7 already had the high idle operational without any additional programming.

I do too. I purchased a pair of Hella strip white LED lights. Mounted them in the slats of the grill and they look factory and work like a charm.
