The cord is the least of your worries. First I would have someone who can see if the axle problem is safe to drive . You dont want to be a mile from home and lose an axle . Have any good mechanic come check it out , trailer axles arent rocket science .
Went to the trailer repair facility and the mechanic said he looked over the whole axle assembly, took off the wheels and made sure there was nothing amiss with the brakes and bearings, etc. He insisted that the axles and suspension are fine. So I asked that he measures the distance between the wheel hubs and the axles. All appear to be consistent. Then I asked why the tires on the left side are not sitting in the middle of the wheel wells. So he measures from the rear bumper to the center of the side skirt. Turns out the left side skirt was mounted 3" farther forward than the right side. Which would make the left wheels appear to sit 3" rearward of the center of said skirt.
I towed the TT home and had no issues. This Saturday I'll be towing it about 40 miles to a CG.
The question running through my mind is why in the last two years I never noticed the wheels not sitting in the center of the left wheel wells. I'm going to search for photos I took of the TT back when I bought it, to see if they show the position of the wheels relative to the wheel wells.
