My New 19.5's finally arrived!

Ordered my not Vision wheels and tires, in May. So those of you who have ordered wheels from _____ know how long and frustrating a process it can be. But here is the exciting day at long last.

I know the UPS delivery guy was thinking how weird I must be taking his photo of somebody getting tires.

Ummm, what's wrong with this picture? I asked the delivery guy, where the 4th tire was as I am looking into his truck getting ready to climb in myself. Hey buddy, I've only got three but the computer does show a total of 4 sooo, don't worry about it. Of course by know I should expect nothing less from the ____ wheel company. The slow wheel/tire showed up at my front door the next day. I should probably keep my eye on that one as I expect it likes to take alternate routes from the group.

I purchased Firestone FD 690 plus 245/70R-19.5 G rated tires. Really deep tread and IMO, a good mix for street / back roads.

The thing I like about _____ wheels is that they match OEM backspacing. I also believe they have outstanding mounting and balancing. After installing the tires I drove on surface streets and then on the freeway up to 70 mph and it was totally smooth and vibration free. I haven't experienced them yet on a lot of different surfaces yet but the ride didn't seem any harsher to me.

I am glad I now have the 19.5's. I really like having the extra strength and safety margin. I think 19.5's are an excellent product for SRW truck campers. If you decide to order wheels from company____, not Vision, then expect delays. Expect 4-6 months or longer, they will eventually arrive. But: DO NOT listen to the company president. I don't care what he is telling you, I wouldn't listen to him. I was told I would get my order late July, then early August, then late August, then early September, finally 3 out of 4 arrived September 30th. JUST DON"T LISTEN TO HIM. The lady that takes your order seems to know what she's doing.

IMO, Rickson makes a superior wheel with great, outstanding, mounting and balancing. I found out today that part of their balancing process is trueing of the tire with a tire lathe. I noticed in several small areas of the tire tread on each tire as I was mounting them that a small amount of tire material was removed to produce a perfectly round tire (thanks for the lesson Bryan). That's one of the reason's they drive so smoothly.

Historically and Jimh425 might be correct with (8 years) they've had a backlog issue and it is a shame. I think Buzzcut1 was the worst case I have ever heard of.

Taiwan although also called China has a completely different history of manufacturing compared to the other China.

I can't actually validate where the Visions are made, but it's not like Ricksons are a viable option. My current truck has stock 19.5s. FWIW, Rickson has had a supply problem for at least 8 years which is really a shame.

that is how I felt . I was ok with the initial quote of a 3 to 4 month lead time. However, it stretched to 8 months with excuse after excuse and I was Two days from a major trip that would put me above my existing tires load limts with the gear I wanted to take. I had enough of Ricksons BS and got the Visions. I will never do business with them again.

I did not know the Visions were Chinese. In view of that I would wait for the Ricksons too!!!!

I agree Rickson provides great quality products. As stated above, my ride also was perfect from the moment I hit the road, vibration free and no alignment problems.

I believe you get what you pay for and in Rickson world, you may need to also wait for it. But its worth it.

Hmmm, in some ways their weight sticker was accurate. There was the outside sticker before factory options, then there is an inside sticker with options, then there were a couple options I added. So I don't blame Adventurer for embellishing the weight, but it does all add up. Plus that big water tank doesn't help push the weight past the tire capacity and because we usually boondocked, I felt I had to include that weight too.

Short bed seems to handle the 86FB fine, although if I could magically snap my fingers I would turn it into a long bed if nothing else to reduce the overhang and improve towing performance.

Yes...AMLRV weighs each camper as it leaves the factory. That is the weight posted on the inside sticker.
Both of our AMLRV built campers were within 100# of the stickers in the cabinets.
Every camper Mfr should do this.
