Here's the bad news....look at the sticker on the driver's door jamb for "payload". Load up the family in the Tahoe and when you're out for ice cream one afternoon swing by a scale and see how much the Tahoe weighs with all the passengers. Whatever is left over is available for tongue weight. Divide that by .15 and that will give you the fully loaded weight of the max trailer you can tow. Subtract 1000 to get to the dry weight.
Example: The GVWR on the Tahow is 7000 lbs, and it weighs 6400 with the family on board. &000-6400=600 lbs available for tongue weight. 600 / .15 = 4000 lbs, that's your max loaded trailer weight.
Watch the payload on the these, they don't do well if overloaded by too much.
