My new trailer is not junk

At least not in the first few weeks. I have owned many trailers and this new Jayco 154 BH seems to be put together better than any of the Forest River or Fleetwood trailers that I have owned in the past. It is a very simple, no slide unit which eliminates that potential problem and Jayco apparently knows how to attach aluminum to wood correctly. The fit and finish inside has less loose screws and misaligned pieces than I have put up with in the Rockwood, an Palomino creations.

I am keeping my 28' unit for longer stays but really enjoy the easy towing and great fuel mileage of the tiny trailer.

While it may be the "trip" the counts, a poor quality trailer, no matter the brand, can make for a disappointing trip.

It may be that I simply like to hear something positive once in a while.

  • It's still business as usual @ Jayco. Thor will benefit from the Jayco travel Trailers, mainly the Jayflight.
As for TomG2, i could not agree with you more. The Jayflight SLX proves that simple can be a good thing. So far, are 195RB has been really good for us, not perfect, but really good. Fit / finish inside and out is good, only one minor issue is the pantry door is warped. One of the biggest complaints on the Jayco Owners Forum Site is the bed in this unit. It is a queen size island bed, but Jayco cheaped out by using thin plywood and no lift struts. The biggest complaint is the bed sags in the middle, some have blamed it on the Denver Mattress, others have added 2x4 supports from side to side. That to me just adds to much weight to the bed when lifting. What i did was build a support wall under the bed. 2 things this did ..... added support, and now the bed is darn comfortable, secondly, closed off the under the bed storage on inside to the outside storage, in other words, inside and outside storage is now seperated.... so, if by accident you leave the outside storage door open, what is outdoors stays outdoors. Next spring i am going to add a thicker piece of plywood, cut and hinge it at the support wall, and when you need to access underneath the bed, you are not lifting the entire bed. We are away next week with it for a week of fall camping .... so, we'll see how this Jayflight stacks up to the other 3 i previously enjoyed!

  • My 2008 Jayco Octane has been the best trailer I have owned as far as fit and finish. Just yesterday replaced some yellowed outside plastics and it looks like new still. Before that, I always thought Terry was good until 2007, with a noticeable change in their fit and finish took a big slide. A TT and 3 FW's, 2 of them with slides, the last one didn't have one screw installed anywhere properly. Looked like a Monday hangover special. :)

Jayco sold out to Thor. The Jayco brand is not going away, more than likely just some of the quality will.

That is way different from saying that they are gone. I doubt that they fired all the workers and managers.

To bad jayco sold out and is no longer around

Better tell the dealer, as mine is a 2017 and they have many on the lot and more on the way.

Would you provide some documentation, please?
  • Congrats on your new little one...I am seeing smaller size trailers a lot, out on the road. Basic necessities is all we need for getaways. Glad you are so pleased with it.
