Name of jack for getting un-stuck?

What is the real name of those jacks that many 4X4 campers or jeeps carry? The ones that are strapped to bumpers. I need the real name so I can look up and order one.

I'm in process of pulling about 6 fences posts and couple small trees. My old style bumper jack rusted up sitting in my shed. Along with my old style oil spout for the old quart containers with metal tops.

Thanks
  • I got mine many years ago when still farming. Got it in Tractor Supply predecessor, Central Tractor. That thing has jacked tractors, trucks, concrete foundations, house walls and even buildings. It also is set up so you can hook a chain to the top and use it as a come-along. It works in any orientation, even upside down. Just get one rated for the amount you want to lift/move.

I've heard them referred to as "widow makers" more than once. I always give them some respect.

  • OP here...Little bit hard looking stuff up without knowing the real name.

    Thanks, you nailed it
  • They are also called "Farm Jacks". Harbor Freight has them too.
