Near Miss - Distracted Driver

If you had more than a 6 1/2 foot TC, you shouldn't have been on a narrow road without shoulders either. Sounds like the truck was lost in any case.

I think you're right, but both kept on driving without stopping over another 10-15 minute span. And, yes, the scooter rack couldn't have been far from the door.

We were driving on a tight twisty narrow mountain road in western North Carolina. The road is posted "No Vehicles Over 4 Axles". As I approached a tight right hander we were met by an 18 wheeler coming around the curve taking up every bit of both lanes and possibly the shoulder at the point that I saw him. I slammed on the brakes and had to drive off the edge of the road with the side of my camper inches from the rock face wall on my right. The trailer missed my left side by inches as it went by. If it weren't for the narrow 6.5 foot wide Eureka camper we surely would have had contact.

Side question, what you use for snipping?
I thought youtube will do that, but could not make it working.

He/she might not have been distracted but sure wasn't paying attention. It looked like they were trying to avoid rear ending the pickup and forgot to do a shoulder check.

Can’t tell why you think they were a distracted driver, but maybe your definition of distracted driver and mine are different. Glad they pulled back over in any case. It’s always good to avoid passing a line of cars from the right.

The car driver at least had excuse of being distracted.
This happen to me 3 days ago (scroll to 1:30) when pickup driver visibly forced his way on the road, making 3 traffic violations in 5 seconds, while not shown on this video, some time later lot of trash, including 3 foot cardboard flew from his truck.
