Your truck is plenty of truck and then some for that trailer. Im sure you have great affection for this particular mechanic but he is wrong on this point. I just towed my 7000lb TT and gear 3000 miles. Its an 04 Avalanche with the 5.3 not even sure what my gear ratio is. It did fine at 65 mph.
