For Android I use Torque Pro ($4.99 app) plus a $25 Bluetooth OBDII adapter from Amazon. I got an old free phone from a friend as my main phone is Apple. A cheap pre-paid android phone works great too, never activated for voice.
Why buy a cheap smartphone when you can own the NEC Terrain for just $79 bucks? I am just putting this out there for those of you that might want to get in on owning a top of the line ruggedized smartphone for under $80. The NEC Terrain is ruggedized military grade android smartphone with really strong specs. It was just released 7 months and was priced at $450. The NEC company has decided to drop out of the smartphone market and existing stock has been reduced to bargain basement prices. You can get one unlocked on Amazon for $79. I bought 4 of them just to have to replace my current phones when they go bad. Here is a link if you are interested.
NEC TERAIN Ruggedized, MilSpec Waterproof, Dust Proof & Shock Proof Android Smartphone.
