Here's my experience. I have a 6.4 with 3.73. I recently took a trip from SF bay area to Bend, OR. Both the truck and my trailer were very loaded with household items, furniture, books, outdoor equipment, etc. (18.5k-19k gross combined). Before I left I was concerned about the mountain passes. When I approached an incline, I would simply knock it into third and it easily maintained 60mph climbing passes in third @ 3000 RPMs. It was a very comfortable and relaxing drive, and trucks do not blow me around. I'm glad I went with the 3.73 & not the 4.10 since this is the only time I'll be towing this heavy.
