I recently went from pulling my 7000 lb travel trailer from my 1500 silverado to a 2500 dodge diesel. I can attest to the stability of the 2500 rig over the 1500 simply in the suspension. In my 1500 the suspension was almost maxed out with the payload. Every good bump I hit it felt "spongy" and when big rigs came by I always had the white knuckle experience. With the 2500 (regardless of the diesel) it rides sooooo much better. Hitting bumps in the road and when big rigs get close do not concern me near as much. Hitting a good bump in the road with the 2500 doesn't really feel any different with the camper hooked up or not. With the 1500 I always slowed down when I noticed a good bump in the road just because I knew I'd be "rocking" for the next 100 yards or so. In my experience, even with the 2500 gas rig, it'll ride much better and reduce the nervousness with varying road conditions. Just my 2 cents.
