Go test drive a 2500 and see how you like the ride. It's not going to be nearly as nice as the 1500. Your obviously not overloaded but are close. I would try some air bags in the 1500. They will give the truck a more stable feeling. My son has a Ram 1500 with the coils, it's sooo soft in the rear. Your going to take it in the shorts trading in, no way around it. For #300+ you'd have a better handling 1500.
Also if you aren't using a WD with sway control on the trailer, get one. Air up the tires on both to max psi.
