Need help with dad's purchase

My dad is looking to purchase a camper. He has a 2010 F250 powerstroke for a TV. His goal is to haul a BMW 1200K series and a dirtbike while traveling. He is 69 yrs old and about to retire. He thinks he's going to put the two motorcycles in the bed of his truck while towing an airstream TT. I think that is just an accident waiting to happen. I'm trying to talk him out of the idea and get him into a toy hauler of somekind. He thinks toy haulers aren't that nice and he won't consider one. I need help with finding either a nice FW or TT toy hauler that weighs in the 8000lb area, or an easy way for him to get his bikes into the bed other than a simple ramp. Please help.
  • It is in the math, the truck has a max cargo rating and if the two motor cycles and TT tongue weight and camping stuff are within the weight limit he should be good to go.

Toy haulers are okay if you like toy haulers, at 69 he knows what he likes. However he may be up against the truck’s cargo limit.
  • The dirt bike I could see. The 1200???
How bout a 5er and a second trailer for the bikes?
Have you taken him to an rv show to show him TH? It might change his mind if he hasn't seen some of the newer models.
Good luck, I understand your concern
  • I see no issues with hauling two bikes in the truck bed as long as he is not overloaded with the trailer hitched. Seen far worse over the years.
  • I'll start with - Check the payload of his truck ( yellow sticker in drivers door). Then get the combined weight of those two motorcycles......he may be over weight before he hooks up a TT.
