  • you need the antenna booster if you're going to get over-the-air channels with the tv antenna. it's usually a black button that has a green light next to it when on.
then you have to do a channel scan with your digital tv, using the air choice.
if you are using cable then you don't turn the booster button on but you still have to scan but you use the cable choice this time.

Being a 2013 model it should be setup just fine for getting HDTV signals...

This is what we do to get HDTV signals... You must have to have a HD ready TV set. We use the VIZIO 22-inch HDTV (WALMART) in our trailer setup

Crankup up the BATWING OTA Antenna and point it towards a town that is transmitting a digital HDTV signal.

Then push in the BLACK BUTTON on the TV PANEL that looks like this. A green light will come on telling you 12VDC is going to the PREAMPLIFIER that is located inside the OTA Antenna.

Then you have to goto the MENU of your HD READY TV and select ANTENNA MODE from the menu. Then you have to start scanning for HDTV signals. Mine looks for analog signals first then for digital signals. If you do not start seeing digital signals starting counting then stop the scan and move the antenna one way or the other and restart the scan. We usually get 6-36 Digital HDTV signals just about anywhere we go camping here on the East side of the US.

Once the digital scan completes then you should be able to view digital high def TV signals.

Since the new digital NATL BROADCAST system came out a few years back the digital TV signals are using the High VHF/UHF frequency band which makes pointing almost exactly at the TV stations a must. The digital HDTV signal either works perfect or nothing at all. Not like the old days when you just turn it on and maybe find a snowy picture and then move the antenna to pick it up better. Your HDTV has to scan in the digital signals first before you can view anything...

They do have a pretty neat DIGITAL TV SIGNAL FINDER on the market that can find the the HDTV transmitter first and then do your TV scanning.

With this you can move the antenna to pick up the TV signal on the LED lights and keep reducing sensitive and moving antenna until you get max leds lit up. This will be the direction of the HDTV transmitter station.

  • Ok so I just might not be pointing the antenna in the right place I,ll have to try it this weekend to see if I can find any channels
  • if you have a smartphone, you can download an app to determine where the best tv signals are.
  • I'm thinking like Dan...........You have to do a TV scan from the TV menu button or the TV remote.

  • This might be a dumb question? But you specified the Trailer is 1999... I assume you are using a brand new HD Digital TV? As standard broadcast no longer occurs in many areas... Therefore: if you are using an older TV that does not have a digital tuner you wont get much if anything...

As I used to sell antennas for Radio Shack in the 90's "Digital ready" antenna is a crock... As Digital signal can be received by just about any Television antenna..

The only other thing to possibly check... As the Trailer is "Close" to 20 years old you may want to check/replace the connection on the cable up on the roof..

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!
