This probably won't work in your situation because of the shape of the base of your recliner but....we had a swivel rocker that had 3 metal legs as a base..we got a round plastic "dish" that fits under a water heater and sat the rocker in it so we could slide it without the legs digging into the carpet..worked great. They cost about $10 each. Maybe you could do a variation of this. Another thing we used on a recliner that was too heavy to move was a drywall carrier handle..it hooked under the chair and made it easier to handle..I could lift it up and pull it into place rather that have to try to push it on the carpet. We just used a cheapie plastic one, cost around $8.
