If it's still under warranty and if you haven't, one thing I'd do for sure is make sure it's well documented, especially on something that serious. Dealers can't be trusted. I would even consider emailing the manufacturer for the record.
We had a significant issue on our 1st TT from day one. After almost 12 months of the dealer balking at looking at it and emailing them many times, they finally gave in and did the repairs. Turned out to be a factory defect that would have cost us a fair bit to fix on our own.
