This has been a rare but not uncommon occurrence with the 17s, I almost think there is an updated axle nut but I don't recall.
If they are replacing the whole assembly it probably ran long enough that it chewed up the bearing surface on the spindle some. If the dealer tech is competent, gear setup is 100% a non issue. If they are replacing the entire assembly....the lube tech should be able to do that without screwing it up.
