I have a 2013 R-Vision Trail Lite Sport 27BHS and love it. It has a slide out, tall curved ceiling, large awning, a queen bed with island, large convertible dinette, jack-knife sofa, 2 bunks (the bottom is a double), full bath (w/ mini tub), and more. It only weighs 5,100 lbs and that isn't a fictional number. It is what the trailer weighs, as per the sticker.
For a comparison to your tow vehicle, I pull mine with a 2011 Silverado 4.8L (tuned and slightly modified intake/exhaust) and am getting 3.73 gears this month. Even with the stock 3.23 gears, I have had no problem pulling it, and that takes into account the hilly areas north of Atlanta. Your 5.3 w/ 3.42 gears should have no problem with 7-8K+. Note: My second choice was a Coachman Apex 288 BHS, which is very similar the Trail Lite. You may want to look at that particular trailer. Hope this helps and Good luck!
