Not everyone can buy a new heavy duty truck whenever they want.
summitpower, with a payload of 1650 and the lighter of the two you are looking at, the numbers work for now. And if a new truck is in the works for next year, even better.
My TT's useless dry weight is 5600, haven't had a chance to weight it yet. I tow with the dreaded 1/2 ton. Does just fine for me. I don't like going much more than 60 mph, I'm on vacation.
Last weekend I drove from southern Oregon to central Washington. I saw many mid size trucks and SUVs towing travel trailers. Maybe they were over loaded and maybe they weren't. The point is they were using what they had and getting out camping.
