Yea, but other than hauling a camper I have no use for that big of truck
That "big" a truck meaning 2500 or 3500?
The newer HD trucks (all three, ford for 2017) share the same exact cab between the half tons and larger. They aren't really that much larger.
For Ford and Ram (assuming GM too) The 3500s are Identical to the 2500s in every way except rear springs. The 3500s have a heavier load leaf spring and the 2500 has a coil spring. I don't see myself ever getting a fifth wheel so the payload of the 2500 is more than enough for me.
I ended up having my 2500 built with options I wanted to cut cost down. Like the guy above me said, it's hard to find HD trucks with the options you want sometimes. all the ones around here were built with rear window defrost (don't need it since I have a cap), auto wipers/high beams ( hate em on my VW), and a few other options. I omitted what I didn't need and picked up almost 2K between the useless options dealers love to put on the trucks or I felt I didn't need because of my cap (defrost, cargo cam, 5th wheel prep) for example.
