I'm late to this party but wanted to share.
We were in the same predicament back in 2000 with a 1997 F150 4.6L. We wanted the big camper to entertain our 3 kids but didn't have enough TV to do the job. We realized we either need a bigger truck or smaller TT and forget about slides.
After doing the math we went the other direction by selecting a 26' non-slide Sportsmen with torpedo bunks and kept the truck. It worked for us, kids had a blast and that was the best of times family camping.
Now the kids are grown and we have this FW for just the two of us but we had more fun in that little Sportsmen.
Enjoy your new truck. Now let's go camping.
