Folks, just went and got my tires balanced and rotated, too long between, and was looking for some tires to place the Michelin 265/70/R18 LYX M/S that are on it. Although they look good and perform pretty well, they look to me like they are wearing more than they should be with less than 25,000 miles on them. What would you recommend for a good tire to carry my 2500HD GMC crew-cab and an HT Jayco 26.5 RLS FW? I have a quote for some Firestone Transforce H/Ts but know nothing about them. Any help would be much appreciated.
Those Transforce tires came stock on my Ram, and they are a terrible tire. I hope they wear fast so I can get some decent tires on it.
I personally like Cooper, Toyo and BFG. I'm leaning toward Toyo Open Country AT2 when I do swap in new tires/wheels, but I'm still considering the Cooper AT3, Cooper ST Maxx, and BFG AT/KO2. It's important to me to have tires that perform well both on and off road, and the Transforce HTs are woefully inadequate in the latter category. They're also pretty poor on snow, ice and even struggle with wet traction.
