Wow people, it's over. The decision was made, and then made again. It’s not completely uninformed. I have been towing with 3.42 gearing for several years. I understand that not everyone agrees, and I don't care.
Just so you understand this is a general discussion board. Questions get asked and people comment to the op and to each other that's how it works. Just because your decision was made does not mean there are not others wanting to learn.
BTW, I don't compromise especially when ordering a new truck.
When I bought my 11 HO Dually I did "compromise" as the truck had 3.42's and I knew I had to have 4.10's. The Service Manager offered to replace my front and rear gears for $1,500. After I towed for a while I decided I did not need the 4.10's and was happy to get the best mileage possible along with great towing performance. So I kept the stock gearing and towed well over 1/2 of the 65K I owned the truck. With the 68RFE I had to ease into the throttle taking off on grades. As mentioned the AISIN would have taken care of that one issue and I would still be running that truck. Just to show I am not blowing smoke the first pic is my 11 towing 29K and second pic is my current 15 towing 35K. Same trucks just different Trans and gearing.
