I think you will like the 3.73 choice. It's what came in my truck. I can tow at 55 to 60 in fifth, or at 65 to 75 in 6th without high EGT"s or drama.
Your truck is an 01 with a 6 speed stick. Completely different animal!
Exactly.
Additionally the OP will likely enjoy his new truck immensely and it will perform wonderfully for him. He may even recommend his gear selection to others, but, that doesn't mean that he would not have enjoyed an even better towing experience had he ordered the recommended gears for his rig.
Recommended by who? Half say stay with 3.42 and the other half say 4.10’s. It’s become like a “which hitch is the best” thread. If I hear B&W one more time I’ll probably puke. I know they make a nice hitch but I’ve been happy as a clam with my Curt. The opinions on here that are presented in all caps or followed by multiple exclamation marks tend to turn me off quickly. When folks yell at me I tune them out.
Recomended by the Ram engineers:

Ram engineers offer 3 options. I don’t see them favoring one over the others in the chart. I do see 3.73’s providing the ability to tow nearly 25,000. Perfect for me.
