But, what again are the 2020 safety features? Are you talking about the drive assist technology?https://www.ford.com/trucks/super-duty/2020/?gnav=header-all-vehicles Begs the question, you are ok with brand new driver assist technologies and transmission, but not brand new engine ... hmm. Just something to think about, but as I said, as long as you are happy that’s all that matters.
The truth is that with more and more gadgets to make educated choice you need rocket engineering degree and lot of time for research.
I have the drive-assist technology in my sedans.
Frankly when I like extra radars giving me warning about blind spot issues, the system is oversensitive and since in city I change lanes pretty close, the constant beeping gets annoying. The same system on Ford truck is obstructed by camper wings and doesn't work.
Other thing is car braking on you. Oversensitive again, but I don't like when computer is trying to outsmart me and when I am OK braking with 4' distance, the computer kicks the brakes at 10' :S
New technology engines become even more tricky. When I like potential of 60 mpg with new engine in my sedan, the sensors for it average $250-350 on internet and in last years most of manufacturers incorporated manufacturer coding, aka SCN.
So when I can DIY it cheaper, stupid sensor taken to a dealer comes with $800 price tag.
The only issue I had with my Superduty in almost 3 years was TPMS.
3 visits to a dealer for fix and it still doesn't work right.
2017 is the first year when Superdutys got TPMS, so go figure.
But at the end of the year, when I save let's say $1000 on fuel thanks to new technology, I am still good to spend $800 on new sensor every few years.
Better fuel economy is not only final number on the annual cost.
Less fuel stops, save you about 1/2 hr a day. Not to mention that adding couple of cans on my Alaskan trip I could avoid filling up for $5/gallon and went extra 100 miles to place selling fuel for $3.50.
