I couldn't find the 1500 with the 6.2 option, I thought that only came on the 2500HD ... but some other stuff I couldn't find either.
I'd do the 6.2 w/3:73 on a 1500 in a heartbeat if I could believe the brakes will hold up, and if I change Lance to NL ...
Still haven't made a decision yet - but with a lighter camper (If I keep the Lance, I'd never do a 1500 with my 2890 lbs dry), but if I go with NL 8'5 lite, at only 1795 lbs, that would keep it under 2500 lbs wet and loaded. We pack pretty light ... and remember, that 1971 payload figure allows five passengers at 150 lbs... so we gain there with two at 325 combined. SO, that adds 450 lbs to payload.
Makes me think the new 1500's will do it well - kicking myself just for thinking it - but as the engineering changes, so does the choice mechanism...
I see some 1500's up in price mid-$40k and up, but that's with a lot of extras I'd never order, nor pay for. IF you build one, you can get in near $35k with minimal options - and not all the fancy add-ons.
