OK, it's time to look at Real World numbers. If that RL is like ours it arrived at the Dealers at 14000 Lbs without even a paper plate inside, no propane, empthy holding tanks and a set of D flashlight batteries (not really, but not much more). So unless you're towing an empty trailer those numbers are less than worthless. Gross is either 16K or 16.5K depending on tires and axles. So lets just go with the 16K, that will put your pin somewhere in the 3000 to 3500 Lb range, Because we have the on-board Genny and Combo Washer we're pushing 4K of pin. You've been living on the edge with a 2500 so if you go 3500 SRW you'll be a little farther back from the edge, but still too close for comfort. Go check the Redwood Forums, there are numerous members there who had 350/3500 SRW TVs they loved, but soon discovered they really needed the DRWs to handle the weight safely.

gvwr 16500 lbs (so what you have all the tanks full and a metal safe in the trailer full of gold to put you to that weight) maybe.
I here you when you speak of peace of mind;) The next part of that is travelling with a 21'(that is the measurement of my current ram) vehicle with wide hips. We are looking at going south parking the rig and using the truck as the daily ride for a couple of months while there. That is why the long look at srw.
brochure weight 12700 lbs
actual scaled weight 13800 lbs that's with the propane;)
twenty percent gives: 2760 lbs (upper end of pin weight)
Me mom and the two Jack Russels and the hitch 1000lbs
It is still under the 4,130 lbs payload rate for the truck outfitted as described.

Engineers design a 30% min to failure over requirements
Anyway I am still not convinced either way.
