Then the Ram guy lost a sale by giving me false info, go figure. I asked, he quoted, I checked the other two and went with what would be the biggest.
Here is what I was told:
Ram fuel tanks
The fuel tank capacities are:
6’4’ box 117 litres / 25.8 gals
8’0” box 121 litres / 26.6 gals
Of course those are Imperial Gallons. 121 litres=31.9648 US Gallons
I was curious about this so I went back and checked the 2013 RAM brochure I had gotten when I was shopping. Sure enough, it listed the size of the tank for a long bed at 32 gal, and 31 gal for a short bed. So the RAM salesman was telling you what he though was correct.
I also thought I had a 32 gal. when I bought my 3500, and didn't discover it was bigger until last weekend when I was checking mileage. I towed approx 300 miles and still had just under half a tank left! That made me check the owners manual where I was delighted to find the fuel capacity listed at 52 gal.!
I'm glad to have the extra range (useful out West), but it wouldn't
matter around the Southeast and most parts of the country - my bladder wouldn't last that long anyway.
Down the road if the smaller tank gets to be an issue I will have it refitted to a lager size. Someone mentioned Titan tanks earlier.
