New Dexter Tow Assist safety system available mid-2020 for fitment to new caravans
A production version of Bosch’s high-tech, anti-sway trailer system with anti-skid braking is finally set to hit the market in mid-2020.
A collaboration between Bosch Australia and DexGo Global, which markets the AL-KO and Dexter trailer stability systems, the new Dexter Tow Assist system provides automotive-style anti-lock braking (ABS), an odometer function, as well as automotive-compatible sway mitigationAL-KO said the trailer anti-lock braking feature utilizes “the most performance out of each trailer brake while reducing the risk of tyre skid or lockup and improving manoeuvrability to avoid obstacles”.
Bosch demonstrated its anti-lock trailer braking feature back in 2017, while both AL-KO and Dexter have offered sway mitigation systems on locally-built caravans for a number of yearsBringing ABS technology to caravans and trailers in Australia is long overdue and has been eagerly awaited by both the public and manufacturers,” AL-KO Managing Director Australia & New Zealand, Peter Mannfolk said.

The system intuitively knows when to apply braking, maintaining trailer stability, without significantly reducing speed or skidding the tyres”.
Dexter Tow Assist will be available to Australian RV manufacturers for fitment to new, electric braked caravans from mid-2020, with aftermarket upgrade kits to follow.
