Woodtrucker with wiring like that I have found out it is better to just start over.
I let my BIL borrow my car trailer once and he crimped the 7 wire lead. I just bought a new one and installed it. So much better than having crimp on connectors in the line and taping everything up.
Looks like a lot of that wiring needs to be replaced anyway. Just buy new stuff and get back to some good wire or a junction block and be done with it.
I'm sure you will have it back to new in no time!
