New campers and have a hitch question

First of all, I have enjoyed reading all the posts. Lots of good information.
Wife and I just bought a 2013 Aspen Trail 2460 RLS.
Planning a shake down trip in a couple weeks, dry camping.
Lots of fun getting everything ready inside trying to keep it light tho without a lot of unnecessary things.
I have searched here and on the web for WD hitches. I towed it from Virginia Beach to Morehead City NC 180 miles with just a regular hitch 60 to 65 mph with no issues. 2007 F150 V8 5.4 Triton 4 door.
I have read a lot about the Anderson hitch and am leaning toward getting it.
Any comments about it?
Will post a pic when I figure out how.

  • On the Lance forum, many Lance owners use the Andersen and are 100% satisfied after getting the right adjustment. That being said, most tongue weights are between 400-800 lbs.
I use the Blue Ox Sway pro (have used on my last three trailers) and also 100% satisfied. It has saved the 'bacon' more than once.
    Heavy Duty
    Silent (even when backing up)
Self adjusting built in sway control
Ease of hooking up with the new roller cam
Powder coated (stays clean) and built in grease cert
no parts to remove or loose
can handle up to 1200 (just change the torsion bars for different weights if you change trailers)
  • If you do a search, use the word Andersen, and not Anderson. Note the "e" in place of the "o". You will get much better results that way! :W

  • Lots of info already posted. Search this Forum for `Anderson hitch' and read on. For even more info search for `Anderson' then search the results for `hitch'.

Your loaded TT probably will have a tongue weight of at least 900#.

For your 2007 F-150, Ford specifies the WDH should restore approximately 100% of the load which was removed from the front axle.

Andersen user reports indicate they were able to achieve about 60% front axle load restoration with tongue weights around 900#.

Depending on how much load restoration you wish to achieve, the Andersen WDH might not be able to do the job.

  • Don't know anything about Anderson.

I have had a couple Equal-I-zer hitches and like them as a quality affordable hitch.
