the days that gave us trouble -- cold, wet mornings that were damp and mostly in the AM
In the "old days" that was a cracked distributor, moisture in the CAP = HARD START. Small crack in one of the coils, fuel system....etc.
Let the dealer figure it out. THat's what warranties are for.
I agree, problem is dealers follow the "trouble shooting" guideline... "if NO then stop diagnoses...if YES go to step 3, 4, 5..." "sorry, can not duplicate systoms" "Here's your truck/car back... have a nice day"
Yes, I told the mechanic exactly the symptom, like moisture in the distributor in older engines. but only for information of how it acts.
And, I agree - lots of dealers will say that - and do that. THIS one didn't - they stayed with it, explained everything. As I mentioned, a good experience for us, given the situation on the road 2000 miles from home. I know we spent at least a half-hour or longer with two guys, the mechanic and the shop foreman ... and probably more by the time we talked about this issue, trucks in general, and some time chatting too -- the foreman is also an RV'er. So he was looking at the anchors we fabricated when Torklift and Happi-jac had no new version for the 2015's.
I've been around a lot of dealers and mechanics over the years, Some good ones, some not so good, and this one stands up there at the top of the 'good ones' list.
I'm not a mechanic in the the new technology sense, but rebuilt and repaired enough of my own older trucks to know when someone is 'telling me tall tails' ... and these two were real and knowledgeable - we'll see as the truck gets more miles on it (3100 now) ... and when it gets into humid weather again. Will come back to this thread and update it when anything happens or changes ...
I'm staying with the 'glitch' for now, and could have been bad gas caused it to begin with, maybe the technology adjusting for it, and tweaking something. Might never know, but am happy things are smooth chugging now.
