I can't speak directly to the NBS Chevy/GMC headlights, but I can tell you what I did on my Classic '03 GMC. I did two things, replaced the OEM bulbs with aftermarket hi-performance ones and added a relay kit so I got power to the bulbs direct from the battery. The headlight switch now became just an ON/OFF switch for the relay which took all the current. Kept voltage drop to a minimum.
The Bulbs I used were from Finemotoring-dotcom. Apparently the Toshiba bulbs I purchased are no longer available, but there is an alternative that he directs you to. I've used the same bulbs for over 8 years and VERY HAPPY! You can do an Internet search for a relay kit, I got mine from Kennedy Diesel. Very complete kit that also lights up all four bulbs when you go to high beams. Lights up the road for a good 500-600 feet and reflectors well over a quarter mile.
