Not sure how the Ford 6.7 is when changing the fuel filter but with my Ram CTD I need to drain the filter housing 1st then remove the filter. Actually it's a water separator drain valve on the bottom of the filter housing. Point being I need to carry a spare container of sorts so if the unthinkable happens and I need to replace my filter on the road I'm not draining diesel fuel on the ground. I just keep a 1 gal milk jug under the rear seat. Never needed it yet.
