As asked earlier; is this a 3500 Dually or a SRW truck? Would help to know. I have the 13' Dually in my sig. The last two Ram Dually's I owned, a 2010 Ram and a 2012 Ram had two placards on the drivers side door jamb, showing recommended tire air pressure for loaded and unloaded conditions.....Tires are aired down when truck is "not towing". You might look as recommended, on your door placard to see what is recommended for your truck.
I wanted a dually (wish list) but we got the Crew Cab 4x4.
I MUST ADD THAT...when we "test drove" the truck we noticed a "light-on" on the dashboard. We asked about it and the salesman said..."oh..that's the 'low tire pressure' sign...we'll add air later if you buy it. Lessoned learned and I am not new to the truck world so dont feel bad.
Being NEW to the truck owner world we had NO IDEA that that would cause a "smoother" ride. I feel like we got duped and we are at a loss for what to do right now.
The tires are 17" and we liked the "bigger, higher" look of the truck (with the cool lights on top) and all in all ...the dealer lowering the tire pressure must of hid the fact the ride would be over the top "stiff".
I don't need for the truck to ride like a car....just not like a sherman tank.
And I'm not sure what "SRW truck" means?
Thanks!
"SRW" truck means single rear wheel vs "DRW" dual rear wheel. There really is no taming the ride of an empty 3/4 ton or larger truck, they require wieght to smooth them out. I feel for you though, we had a similiar situation. I had a 2012 3/4 ton Ram with ambitions of a truck camper, my wife has had back issues and a recent surgery, the ride empty "which is what it would be most of the time" almost had my wife in tears. I got rid of it, ate the loss and purchased a 1/2 ton.
