New Eagle Cap 1200

I was checking out my local dealers inventory of Eagle Cap 1160 and 1165s and stumbled across a 1200 listed. This must be a new model that Eagle Cap is about to launch.

New EC 1200
  • I don't see how TC makers can make them any bigger than this. If pickups start having more cargo capacity, they will bang into commercial truck laws, so a one ton isn't going to start hauling 8-10k in the bed because of this.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some innovation in making rigs lighter while retaining structural integrity, perhaps tossing wood and going with aluminum (like Camp-Lite's models), tossing a combined water heater and furnace for a Truma unit, and so on.

    Can someone clarify;
Lippert (Happijac) slides are underneath (floor slide).
Schwintek are on the side (wall)?

Is the Lippert mechanism also to be used only fully extended/contracted?.
Or can it be used partially extended?

Aren't they both the same company now?

    Thanks.

Im not sure if they are the same company, but the track slide out mechanisms that mount under the slide outs can be stopped at any point, partially or fully extended. As far as Im concerned they are much more time tested, proven, and dependable from the feedback that I have been seeing.
  • The earlier link gives an MSRP of $60,000+. Selling in the low $50,000's

Yes they are both owned by Lippert. The under the floor slide setup can be stopped at any time and then continue on because it only has one motor operating it. There are 2 motors in the Schwintek and they are not synced to each other. This is the reason even after the slide stops you continue to hold the button down for a few seconds till both motors are completely stopped, By doing this it puts the slide straight in the opening and both sides of the slide extended or closed totally.
  • Not all bottom mounted mechanisms are Lippert. My Arctic Fox has Power Gear brand and its been very dependable
  • A lack of headroom is a problem with every Eagle Cap camper.

Eagle Caps only have 78 or 76 inches. Subtract 2 inches for the AC equals only 6' 2"or 6' 4" anything taller equals ducking or lumps on the noggin.

California King sized beds in campers with low headroom seems such a waste.

Although this tall person has about given up all RV's. Not enough headroom or not enough bed room. Rats!

We have a California King in our home. How many normal sized people even know what a California King is?
    ( a 6 foot by 7 foot bed
What is the headroom in your TC?

Looks like an ant under an tortoise shell wow that is way too big, my Lance camper has 6'10" of headroom

    for what it's worth:

The Lippert mechanism is 50 pounds lighter than the Happijc according to a Truck Camper Magazine article (an interview with Lance campers).
