New F-150 - V6 w/Ecoboost?

We're considering a new truck. We haul a 5K dry TT, and have NO plans to upgrade to anything bigger. Right now, we tow with a 2011 F150, 5.0 liter, V8. It's done fine thus far. My husband is a Ford man, through and through, and won't consider anything else. He found a V8 he liked, but it's gone now (Wants a deal on a 2013 model). The salesman showed him a V6 with Ecoboost, and said it would tow better than the V8 without.
Any thoughts or experiences with this? Thanks!
  • i also live in southern la, and i am currently pulling a 28 ft cougar with my 2012 F150 ecoboost and i have to say i am really impressed with the little engine that could i first bought the truck as a commuter for work then got into camping while pulling my camper at highway speeds (around 65 mph) i will generaly get around nine and a half to ten mpg. just put it in tow mode and set the cruise and let it do its thing you will also really like the mpg you get when not towing a trailer. one of the things that sold me on it was its pulling capacity. a friend has the v8 in his 150 and gets about the same towing as i do but pays for it when he not as he gets nowhere the mpg that i do. Still get folks coming up to me at campgrounds asking me about the performance of this little engine
