I too generally buy used everything that is expensive, not only to save money but save the warranty claim hassles. But get after the mfg, only keep CW involved as necessary (keep pushing them but don’t concentrate the effort there).
You two seem young enough to be able to navigate this better than many on this site.
Get after it! And hoping you get made whole, soon, on the deal.
