I would get a bigger cooler in.. Im running to florida in a month or so with the camper and just added a second trans cooler today...
With 3 42 rear I have there is no reason for me to change the gears. Ill get better gas mileage on highway. Gears are just for moving mass off the line.
With tow haul allows to wind the 5.3 up in its power band. The 5.3 has plenty under the hood. Torque converter stays locked in OD and 3rd. Possibly 2nd but not sure.
I may hunt more from OD to 3rd then you with 4 11's. If thats my case ill just drop it in third. I run 2700 rpm in 3rd @ 75 MPH. 2000 rpm in OD
This is why I find it strange you have 4 11's and want to drop $400 for a tune for a measly 10 hp.
The 4L65E would be the heavy duty trans replacement for your truck...
