I got through the worst winter in 60 years with what most people would call the WORST possible vehicle: a short-wheelbase, high torque, 2WD pickup! (V8 regular cab Dakota) For about 99.9% of drivers, 4WD is not needed.
Maybe in New England that's true. It certainly isn't in Idaho, and I'm sure happy I live out here in the wide open spaces of the west.
