New Here

Hi all, I am new to this forum and look forwrd to hearing stories and advice.
Me and my lady just got an Arpod 177 and we are excited to start using it.
Although I thought a big book of campsites came with the good sam membership. How do you get that big book?

  • The big book is available on-line or at Camping World ($10 yesterday) and has maps showing campground locations in it. I use it less often now than I used to but often go to http://www.campgroundreviews.com/or https://www.allstays.com/Campgrounds/. Reserveamerica.com has info on many state parks and others.

Thanks wandering! So you find the apps handier than the big book anyway?

I do! We first purchased it but after a few years we found the listings never updated and there was so much more information available online and enroute without lugging along that big book.

    Welcome!
  • The last GS book I consulted was heavy on the private campgrounds and very light on public campgrounds.
  • Whats easier to handle in the cab of a truck or at the dinette in a tt?
Chances are you have a smartphone with you anyway, and with google earth, you can even get an overhead view in many cases. And with most apps, you bring up a map of where you want to go, and it then shows pins for the campgrounds. With a book, you need the name of each town or crossroad to figure where you are searching.
  • The book is one thing, but most folks anymore use the web.
there are numerous apps for locating and checking ratings on campgrounds.
    Campendium
    rvparky
    recreation.gov

search a little, you will find many methods, all with their own strengths and weaknesses.
