While this thread degenerates into a battle over memory foam, I suggest considering that this choice involves placing a mattress on a hard surface. Many bedding companies offer the combination of a mattress and "box spring". That offers different support from a mattress on a hard surface. For many (but definitely not all), memory foam provides a reasonable alternative on a hard surface.

We've had it for 3 years now, and are still extremely happy with it. If I was to do it again....had I measured first....I would have gone with this
one, because 12" is too high. 8" would have been perfect, and allowed for our ward door to open without cutting the bottom off. We also use a dual 0 degree mummy bag in our camper, letting us keep the temperature lower.

The newer memory foam does not get as hot as the old stuff when it first came out.

As soon as we get to AZ this fall we will order the Bamboo topper I seen one at a store here but as alway's in Canada everything is high priced.

We bought the Extra Plush Queen Bamboo Mattress Topper

We recently installed it on the mattress that Lance supplied with the camper when we bought it in November of 2002. Wow! What a difference.

We liked it so well that I ordered a King Extra Plush Bamboo Mattress Topper for our bedroom at home.

We bought a Simmons spring mattress today. According to the sales guy, "you can't go wrong with a Simmons". :-)

We opted against memory foam or pillow top as both sagged after a few months in our past experiences. We have a Tempurpedic mattress at home and absolutely love it (my wife's back pain is gone after switching to that mattress; unfortunately it came back after sleeping on the crappy RV mattress), but didn't want to plunk down the money to put a Tempurpedic mattress in the RV. Good old spring technology will hopefully save the day for us.

The mattress store just replaced my memory foam mattress. It feels "right" again, but I am not counting on it to last any more than about 4 months.

Any amount of "cushiness" puts me out of alignment and screws my back up. I really don't know how people can sleep on most mattresses.

I put my old full size mattress in the TC to replace the old thin queen that came with the TC. Unfortunately I don't have a box spring for the old mattress anymore, or I'd bring it back in the house.

I totally agree with mkirsch, I think memory foam sucks!

A cold fish would love it though...

I find that it is hot, especially for the active "sleeper"
