you and your sons are already hikers, you live in OR, do you really need AC?
I have heard people from the north west say for the price of a generator, you can buy a nice battery setup AND solar to charge it, and still have money left over.
Here on the Right coast, I need AC since my travels take me down through central and South Right coast.
I think the only thing you are going to miss with out generator is AC, Maybe a coffee maker and a hair dryer. But if you do need a generator, first find out what size AC you have and see your requirements. I can run my Colman on my 2000w Honda.
