Heck if you're a shade tree wrench and have ample opportunity to use it before purchasing then it may be the deal you're looking for.
A decent road trip and camping trip to out everything through its paces is almost like getting a warranty!
Guess then my next step would be if was going to buy this if want to do all the normal maint before working the truck hard. Change ALL fluids filters. Tires will not be safe imo after sitting that long. You don't want to cause problems in your future truck before you buy it.
Sounds like you know the owner so may be able to work something out wrt to maintenance.
I like the old square body Powerstrokes. Lots of them running around in good shape still generally means they're great trucks.
