My 96 is Filon I believe not aluminum.
My thoughts on the F350 and 7.3
My son has a 2002 F250 4x4 with a 7.3 with 325K on the clock. I had a 94 F350 dually with 7.3 IDI 225K on the clock when I sold it.
Currently own a 99 F550 with 255K. The 7.3 is a 500K motor. 1 thing to think about is the trans. At 175K it is near replacement time. Has a 96 caribou with 2.5 micro lite on it and unlike many I love it. Not as loud as many would have you believe and very simple to use. I only run it to recharge the batteries and the ac when required as I live in AZ. LP usage has never been a problem.
On to the is the is the F350 enough truck. Here is my opinion. It will get the job done. My only issue with my F350 was when turning out of a parking lot and getting into traffic it tended to lean. I got the f550 and that stopped being an issue. Not the reason I moved up to the F550. Went with the 550 to allow me to tow a 94 lightning race truck and tools or my 76 Bronco.
Just my opinions and like Butts everybody's got one
