The biggest downfall, in my mind, was that transmission in the 6.4. Plenty of power in the 6.4, but when towing up hills it would try to hold 4th too long and then eventually slam into 2nd and make the engine scream. Wouldn't even try to use 3rd. I hope this transmission fixes those kinds of issues.
Pretty sure the 8 speed behind the 6.4 will be a variant of the 8HPxx
used for about 10 years now.
Have one in a new car and it is light years ahead of the old 66rfe and should be a great match to the truck 6.4.
